Throughout his career, Mr. Nelson has maintained a civil litigation practice, with a concentration in insurance defense and insurance coverage.  He has extensive trial court and appellate experience.  With respect to jury trials, he has "first chair" experience in a variety of case types, including personal injury matters, civil rights claims, employment discrimination cases and consumer fraud litigation.   He also has trial and appellate experience in insurance coverage, premises liability, breach of contract and deliberate intention workplace injury litigation.  He also has practiced extensively in areas involving environmental law, toxic torts, law enforcement, municipal liability, and products liability.

Mr. Nelson has also been a frequent instructor and lecturer in legal education seminars, most recently on the topics of insurance defense practice and insurance coverage law.
